ViewAnyFile.app is a free, browser-based file viewer and studio that supports 350+ formats. We built it because opening an unfamiliar file shouldn't require installing software, creating an account, or uploading sensitive documents to a stranger's server.
Our Story
ViewAnyFile.app started from a simple frustration: receiving a file you can't open. Whether it's a .heic photo from an iPhone, a .dwg engineering drawing, a .psd design file, or a regional desktop publishing file like .inp — the usual answer is "download this 200 MB application."
We believed there had to be a better way. Modern browsers are incredibly powerful — WebAssembly, the Canvas API, WebGL, the File API — they can handle complex binary file formats natively, with no server required. So we built ViewAnyFile.app to prove it.
Today the platform supports 350+ formats across 15 engineering and creative categories: documents, images, audio, video, 3D models, CAD files, code, archives, databases, eBooks, fonts, emails, GIS, and scientific data. Every single one processes entirely in your browser. Your files never touch our servers.

How It Works
When you open a file on ViewAnyFile.app, your browser reads it using the File API. Depending on the format, our client-side engine parses and renders it using:
- PDF.js & pdf-lib — for PDF vector rendering, merging, splitting, and watermarks
- SheetJS — for Excel (XLSX, XLS, ODS) and large CSV spreadsheet datasets
- Photopea — for PSD, AI, EPS, XCF, and layered design files
- OpenCascade / web-ifc / Three.js — for CAD (DWG, DXF, IFC, STEP) and 3D models
- SQL.js (WebAssembly) — for querying SQLite databases in RAM
- Canvas 2D / WebGL 2.0 / ONNX Runtime — for image transcoding and AI background removal
The result is a file studio that is as capable as a desktop application, but runs entirely in your browser — with zero installation and zero data exposure.

ViewAnyFile.app is built and operated by Ahsan Mehmood, founder of XechTech — a software engineering studio passionate about privacy-respecting tools and open-web standards. We are a dedicated team focused on doing one thing exceptionally well: making complex file formats instantly viewable and convertible, on any device, for free.
We support ourselves through privacy-respecting advertising via Google AdSense. We do not sell user data, show intrusive popups, or charge for core features.
